Kitbashing an Ork Painboy Warboss

Orktober is just finished and so is my Ork kitbash! This is a warboss for an Ork horde that is lead by a Painboy. A creative apothecary who just wants to get his boys the best upgrades he can!

This kitbash was inspired by the book The Infinite and the Divine where the two Necron characters bump into an ork warboss who came up from his Painboy origins. This is pretty rare in the warhammer 40K ork society and I thought it was a great idea for a little kitbash.

The Painboy base model

I happened to have a painboy left over from a very old Ork Start Collection set. So I set to work. Of course the claw had to stay, that thing is peak Painboy and I can’t do without. The same for the body and the little gretchen on his back.

The Necron Destroyer bits

The Necron bits are from the Skorpekh destroyers! These things scuttle along on three legs and wield these massive curved blades. Of course once they are no longer attached to a Necron body, they stop regenerating themselves and it all rusts out.

Other bits and pieces

Apart from these two kits I used some greenstuff and some hobby chain from Greenstuff World.

I am pretty happy with how this kitbash worked out. He looks proper orky with his cobbled together bits and the blade just pushed into the stump of his arm. It’s hardcore Warhammer, grimdark and still a bit of humour as you would expect with Orks in 40K.
