I love seeing a massive Warhammer army with everything painted in the same paint scheme.
On the other hand, I also love having a bit more character in all of my minis and that’s what this video is for. I’m painting a small group of Cadian shocktroopers in different schemes that still can form a coherent unit and even a coherent army.
It’s just slapchop painting Cadians, using the same paints on all minis. But! I paint different parts of the minis in different colours. That way you can get a coherent looking force, but give them a bit more character.
Inspired by Fury and Band of Brothers
This was mainly inspired by the great movie Fury, in which you see loads of different outfits and uniforms. Of course, in a movie you need that to distinguish different characters.
Band of Brothers is another great series that inspired me. In that series they all have very similar uniforms, but they all have recognisable features. It’s less extreme than in Fury, but the idea is the same.
On the tabletop it can look cool too though! And you can make your officers, sergeants, heavy weapons experts etc. all stand out in different ways.
Do this at your own risk though. Once you recognise your guys each time they get shot off the table you might start feeling bad for them.
Painting battle ready Cadians for the table top
I also have a true Cadian paint scheme video that is just as easy to paint. See the pics above here and you can find that video here.
In essence this way of painting is slapchop, but I hate that description. It’s just how I have been painting for the last 20 years 😀
